JeannetteMayer.jpgI grew up in Toronto and graduated from Eastern High School of Commerce, where I was most inspired by my art classes. I followed my passion for art and graduated from the Illustration Program at Sheridan College, Oakville. After working in Tanzania and Australia, I moved back to Canada with my husband in 1982. While raising my three sons I periodically took art classes in watercolours at Sheridan College. In the last ten years I have taken a few courses at Ontario College of Arts, Paul Richard James AtelierĀ in HamiltonĀ and started painting more seriously with acrylics, mixed media and now primarily with oil paints.

My travels through parts of North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand always fascinate and inspire me. I love to photograph and then paint what I find visually exciting, whether it is the beautiful architecture in old towns and cities, the colourful plant life and surroundings while travelling to exotic places or exposed roots intertwined along the pathways when hiking in forests.

After being approached to paint portraits of family pets, I realized that I enjoyed creating a keepsake of these beloved family members.

I am happily accepting commissions to paint your pet, which would be a perfect gift for any special occasion. For further information please check out my COMMISSIONED WORK page.
